Karina Praught | Associate Addictions Counsellor

 

Karina Praught is an Associate Addictions Counsellor with the Canadian Addictions Certification Federation, working towards becoming a Registered Addictions Counsellor.

She has a strong background in neuroscience and psychology, obtained through her Bachelor’s Degree and Graduate Program.

Her approach is Rogerian-based, focusing on client-centered therapy in both group and individual settings.

She uses her science-based education to help clients better understand their diagnoses and disorders, with an emphasis on empowerment through information.

Started as a placement student at the recovery home and continued as a dedicated member of the VBH team.

Currently works as a full-time Addictions Counsellor with the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group.

Her philosophy: “Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”
